This set of five quarters layered in 24k Gold is from 2001 and was the third round in the U.S. Mint's 50 State Quarter Series. All of these Quarters are from the Denver mint.
Features:
- Obverse: Profile of George Washington facing left. "UNITED STATES OF AMERICA QUARTER DOLLAR" and in smaller font on either side of profile "LIBERTY IN GOD WE TRUST" D for Denver Mint.
- Reverse
- New York. Theme of the coin is Gateway to Freedom. Image of the Statue of Liberty, the state outline and 11 stars that represents its place when admitted to the union. Reverse inscriptions: GATEWAY TO FREEDOM / NEW YORK / 1788 / 2001 / E PLURIBUS UNUM
- North Carolina: Theme of the coin is "First Flight". Features an image of the Wright Flyer's first flight. Reverse inscriptions: NORTH CAROLINA / 1789 / FIRST FLIGHT / 2001 / E PLURIBUS UNUM
- Rhode Island: Theme of the coin is Ocean State. The coin features an image of a vintage sailboat gliding through Rhode Island's famous Narragansett Bay and an image of the Pell Bridge in the background. Reverse Inscription: The Ocean State / RHODE ISLAND / 2001 / E PLURIBUS UNUM
- Vermont: Theme of the coin is Freedom and Unity. The image highlights Camel's Hump Mountain and maple trees with sap buckets in the forefront. Reverse inscriptions: VERMONT / 1791 / FREEDOM AND UNITY / 2001 / E PLURIBUS UNUM
- Kentucky. Theme of the coin is my old Kentucky home. Reverse features the stately mansion, Federal Hill and a thoroughbred racehorse positioned behind a fence in the foreground. Reverse inscriptions: KENTUCKY / 1792 / MY OLD KENTUCKY HOME / 2001 / E PLURIBUS UNUM.
- Coins are in a hard plastic display case entitled "2001 Gold Set"
